Type of catastrophe:
Natural
A flash flood can happen when an unusual amount of rainfall occurs and, either naturally or through artificial modification of waterways, rivers are unable to cope with the flow and quickly burst their banks flooding the immediate area. This is a localised catastrophe but one which can be incredibly dangerous to the surrounding areas. Often there is little warning and the heavy rainfall can often hinder efforts to prevent damage being caused by the flood. Hexes containing rivers are the only ones that are affected by Flash Floods.
