This basic infantry training is required for all aquatic population that are to be incorporated into military units. It covers the aspects of discipline, fitness and basic tactics that allow a Culture to create terrestrial ground forces. Further training programs allow for units that operate in different theatres or who have more specialised roles.

It allows the creation of Military Bases to train the Cultures armed forces and give them a place to perfect the arts of war.
