Whenever we have new material to add we'll release it to be downloaded with turn updates. These downloads will be available to be downloaded anytime you log onto the server, though we'll queue things so that only vital updates are being downloaded while you're trying to get your latest turn update.
Which game universe is the best for me (skill levels, time length, etc)
There is no one answer here. It really depends on the time you have to commit to playing No Horions. We will be tailoring game servers to suite different styles and commitment levels of gamers. We are convinced that for every gamer we will have a server to best suite you.
How often will I need to upgrade?
It's difficult to say, but No Horizons is undergoing rigorous testing and should therefore be relatively stable once released. Any updates that are required will be made available as soon as possible to minimise any impact on gameplay and any in-game configuration issues will be updated in the background.
How does the lighting work within the sphere?
Realistically, the sun within the sphere never moves. To do so would cause catastrophic gravity shifts across an area that doesn't really bear thinking about. The star sits in the centre of the sphere and the day/night cycle is controlled by... something in orbit around the star. To make the lighting more dynamic and to create a visual aid to the progress of any given turn we have created an effect that shows the sun slowly setting as each turn goes by. It starts from a midday position an drops towards one side. By the turn's end it will have created an illusion of dusk.
How will No Horizons be packaged?
The best and standard No Horizons experience is by connecting to one of our servers that hosts 50,000 players. This is our No Horizons experience and should offer the most for gamers. We do have two other types of server. The ISP server which we lease out to ISPs where they can run the game on their server for their customers. This meant to be free for gamers and is limited to a smaller number of players. Finally there is the home-version of the game, which is free to download but does require an active account to use. This is restricted to approximately 16 players and can be setup by anyone on a dedicated server. The home versions allows you the gamer to customise No Horizons how you want (including modding).
