Memes  The final step to creating your culture is to select your culture's communication mechanisms and, if you want, selecting a religion for your people to follow. There are a few language communication methods for you to choose from. This will give your culture a way to communicate amongst itself and will make it easier for you to understand the languages of similar communication mechanisms.

Each Culture also has four other memes that can be developed when it is set up. These cover the Culture's artistic side and includes:

National Sport  The main national sport of your Culture.

Fine Arts  The most distinctive form of art your Culture creates.

Literature  What style of stories does your Culture produce. Who are your legends and what lessons do they impart?

Music  What music best defines the Cultures attitudes and current outlook.

Technology  No Horizons implements a Technology Web to fully describe the vast array of knowledge a Culture may accumulate from living within the Sphere. Unlike other games, however, there is no one set path that the Culture follows. Indeed because many technologies can be refined and improved indefinitely there is no way to fully research everything within the Web.

The Web itself is broken into 5 major branches of endeavour (Warfare, Philosophy, Science, Society and Engineering) and each of these is broken up into 4 sub-strands. With over 530 separate technologies the ability to customise a Culture is incredibly flexible. You can choose to specialise in one strand, or spread yourself across 4. A lot of what you do will change as you play and new opportunities and challenges present themselves. We created the Tech Web to give you the versatility to create the Culture you want to play!
